Ballerina Hippo Cake

I started with two 9 x 13″ chocolate cakes torted and stacked. I first carved the rump and body of the hippo and then the head. I used cupcakes for the feet. After carving the entire cake was covered with buttercream and then covered in purple fondant.
The cake board was covered with green royal icing. The flowers are gumpaste. The tutu was made about a week in advance and allowed to dry over a dome shaped surface. The eyelashes, pearl bracelet, butterfly and tiara were all made of gumpaste. The tiara was painted with mixture of rum and silver luster dust, and then coated with edible glitter.

Would love to see a video of how you made the cake. Very nice, I love it!
I think this is so cute and very creative. I do mainly sheet cakes and shaped cake pan cakes. I’m a little scared of doing the carving out like this. Awesome job! You’ve got talent, way to go!!!
Could you please email me a step by step guide for this cake. (even just on how to do the shape) My daughters 1st birthday is coming up and I would love to do this
Thanks
