Butterfly Birthday Sponge Cake
First Name: Lisa
City and State: Dunedin, NZ

Using my own butterfly pattern, I cut out 2 wings and a body from a pre-made sponge cake. Assemble cake on a prepared board. I tinted cream cheese icing with rose pink food coloring. Spread over the wings. Spread chocolate icing over the middle body part. Used 2 licorice logs for the antennae. I traced 2 butterfly shapes on the bottom of each wing, with icing. decorated with love heart snow flakes. Position smarties around edges of cream cheese icing. Marshmallows on outside wings. Makes a wonderful 1st birthday cake!

i think this cake is very cute and perfectly suited for a little girl. but next time i would make the parts closer together so it look like all one peice.
i agree with brenna, it’s a really sweet and girly cake but it does look a bit odd not being pushed together. am going to try it for my daughter’s 6th birthday. thanks for the idea lisa.
