First, you’ll need to create a 50/50 mixture of gum paste and fondant. Once you have the combination ready, you need to roll it out thinly using a small rolling pin. Make sure that the fondant/gum paste combination will be paper thin so that it will drape on your cake properly.
What you need to do next is to gather one end of your rolled fondant and make folds that are somewhat similar to a ruffle. When you have figured out where you will be positioning the drape, apply piping gel on the cake and place the fondant. Stretch and arrange the drapery as you like.
