Easter Egg Cake
First Name: Gretchen
City-State: Milford, CT

I made this cake for Easter brunch. The bottom round layers are my cousin’s super-secret carrot cake recipe with cream cheese filling. But, because we have some picky eaters in the family who won’t eat carrot cake, the top eggs are made of white cake, baked in a Wilton egg-shaped mold.
The entire cake is done in buttercream icing (butter-rum flavor) with hand piping. I am a beginner in the world of cake decorating, having just completed my first course. I used as many of the piping techniques as I
could, including lattice, garland, shell border, fleur-di-lis, Cornelli lace, ribboning, rosettes, grass and lily-of-the valleys.
