Cake Decorating Ideas

I made this for my brothers 21st birthday. The house facade is made out of MMF. When the candles were lit it looked like the house was on fire.

The bottom cake is a lemon sheet cake with butter cream icing. The decorations are MMF, butter cream and black licorice. For the fire truck i used 2 9×12 cakes and cut and layered them ( 3 layers). This was also lemon cake with a blueberry filling and butter cream icing flavored with lemon pie filling. I covered it with red fondant, each section is a separate piece of fondant.

To decorate i used : black fondant-windows, butter cream-trim , ladder and hose, salt water taffy-gauges and hose nozzle and for the lights i used sugared spice drops. The tires are mini chocolate donuts with butter cream icing and red hot hub caps. I put the truck cake on a board covered with foil that i had scored with a pizza cutter to resemble the metal used on the truck bumpers. I used wooden dowels to support the truck cake on the bottom layer and also to provide stability in the truck itself.

It was a huge hit. I had alot of fun making it and i can’t wait to make my next cake. Any tips/ feedback would be great!
