Hoola Themed Birthday Cake

First Name: Sandra
City-State: Newcastle – England-United Kingdom

My daughter wanted a hoola party so I came up with a beach idea, then added a Hoola girl as well as a palm tree. I also decided to have some fun by having a shark poke its head and tail out of the sea, then adding more small details.

The girl is made of icing. Her arms and head are attached to the body using small pieces of dry spaghetti. I also used this method for the fish and shark tails in side of cake. Her hair is made of royal icing mixed with brown food colouring and piped on with a number 42 nozzle. Her skirt is made up of strips of ready roll colored icing using a sugarcraft gun. Lastly, her flower waistband was made using a blossom plunger. I then used a small needle to make a small hole in center and when dry, threaded them together and tied into the girl’s waist.

I used cake decorating wire to make the shape of the palm tree then coloured ready roll icing and placed it round the wires to form the shape while adding a diamond detail up the tree with a small knife.

My daughter was over the moon with her cake.
