Horse Birthday Cake

First Name: Reshma
City-State: Mukilteo, WA

I have never been to any cake decorating classes. Thanks to the internet and Youtube for they have been very helpful! I have loved cake decorating all my life, and have experimented with fondant for the second time!

First, I made an orange cake in the shape of a rectangle. I drew a horse face on paper, put in on the cake, outlined and then cut it. Next, I soaked the cake with warm orange juice and added chocolate butter cream frosting. I let the cake chill for about 30 minutes.

Next, I prepared the marshmallow fondant. I added color to make different shades of cream, light chocolate,
dark chocolate, black and red fondants respectively. I covered the horse face with cream fondant and then the red and white fondant for the horse belts. I made the horse hair with 3 colors of chocolate. The eyes were made with black fondant while the eyelid was with cream fondant.

I was inspired to make a horse cake for my husband’s 39th birthday, because he has found a new passion in horses and horse collectibles!
