How to Make a Clown Cake
Clowns are a whole lot of fun. They always make sure that their audience is laughing and having a great time. If you want to add some cheer during your child’s party, you can serve a fun clown cake to your guests.
Here’s what you will need to make your clown cake: one large and one small round sponge cake, buttercream icing, blue food coloring, red sugar paste and assorted candies such as flying saucers, chocolate buttons, Smarties or M&Ms, marshmallows, strawberry laces or licorice.
The first step to making your clown cake is to carve the cake into the right shape. You will need to trim two sides of the small cake to make a triangular shape. Remember to cut the bottom of triangle with a gently curve. Take the two side pieces and cut a third off the opposite ends. These will make the rim of the clown’s hat. Now, coat the round cake with white buttercream. Add a bit of blue food coloring into the remaining buttercream and use that to coat the clown’s hat.
Decorating your clown cake is fun. All you need to do is line up some flying saucer candies on the hat’s center and line some more candies at its rim. As for the clown’s face, use large chocolate buttons for the eyes and place a dab of buttercream on it to secure an M&M or Smarty on top. Use red M&Ms or Smarties to form a smiling mouth. Grab a bit of red sugar paste and roll it into the ball; this will serve as the clown’s nose. Form your strawberry laces or licorice into ringlets and position them unto the side of the clown’s face. Add some marshmallows (in alternating colors) on the bottom of the cake for the clown’s neckline.
