An attempt at R2D2 for my nephew’s birthday. I used 3 – 6″ pans for his body and half the ball pan for his head. All the legs are made of rice cereal treats, iced in buttercream and covered in marshmallow fondant all made from scratch. Each layer of cake was a different color; red, blue, green (light saber colors) which was an extra little surprise for the birthday boy when we cut the cake. There are skewers used in the middle leg for support and one up through the middle of him, the legs on the sides are stuck onto R2’s body with skewers also and a dab of buttercream.. I found some small keychain type LED lights to put in R2’s head for the full effect, it was great watching my nephew’s eyes when he saw his cake. I know R2’s detail is not exact but he was a lot of fun and went over great!
