Spiderman Cake

Spiderman Cake

Do you want Spiderman to make a surprise appearance on your son’s birthday party? Make this possible by following this wonderful cake decorating idea:

Prepare a square cake and use a toothpick to mark-out the face of Spiderman. Carve the shape using a sharp knife. Flip the cake over and transfer it into your cake sheet. Take the time to round out the corners to ensure that your cake will truly appear like Spiderman. Apply a layer of crumb coat on the cake before putting it inside the fridge to cool.

Once the crumb coat has set, apply two more layers of crumb coat on your Spiderman cake. Put a large dollop on the middle and smooth it out to resemble a nose. Next, roll out white fondant thinly and place it over the cake. Smooth the fondant carefully on the cake to get the right texture.

The next thing you need to do is mark out the position where you want the eyes to be with a toothpick. Once you have done that, paint on bright red food coloring unto the cake using a clean paintbrush. Be careful not to paint over the eyes since they would be white in color. Define Spiderman’s eyes with black food coloring.

Again with a toothpick, carve out the web design on Spiderman’s mask. Use the same toothpick to detail the design with black food coloring. If you are not sure how to do this, you can copy the design from a picture.
If you have some leftover fondant, tint it blue and line it around your Spiderman cake for additional accent.
