Successful Cake Decorating Tips

Cake decorating can be a fun and rewarding hobby. Whether you just create a fun to consume cake as a dessert for your family or a birthday cake for someone you work with or one of your children. A well decorated cake makes the recipient feel special, and homemade cake says so much more than just stopping in at your local bakery or grocery store.

Successful Cake Decorating TipsThe simplest cake is plain with decorations that are purchased, or you might want to add some candy, nuts or even a bit of coconut. The first step, after you’ve cooked your cake up in the shape of your choice is to let it completely cool. Don’t try to spread frosting on a warm cake this will melt the frosting and your cake might taste good, but you might not be happy with the way it looks.

I’ve seen suggestions to keep the crumbs out of the top layer of frosting that will require you to cover the cake with a very thin frosting. Let it partially harden by putting the cake in the refrigerator to speed the process up. Then after the crumbs have been secured get a good cake spatula to spread your frosting onto the cake. You might want to use smooth round strokes to achieve a graceful and delicate look. While the frosting is still soft you will want to creatively apply your decorations that you’ve purchased. Watch you’re their eyes light up at the homemade cake that you created especially for them when you apply these successful cake decorating tips.
