Cake Decorating Ideas

This is a synthesizer birthday cake! It’s a marble cake, covered in buttercream then wrapped with marshmallow fondant. The white keys and Happy Birthday decorations are made of Wilton fondant. I wanted to use other materials rather than having a completely fondant cake. So for the lights I used Jolly Ranchers, wrapped in colored fondant to make the colors pop. The knobs and the border are made of licorice because the birthday boy loves licorice. The black keys are made of Kit Kats dipped in dark chocolate tinted with black dye. All the rest of the white decorations are buttercream!
