White Dog Cake
This a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream. The eyes, nose, and collar are fondant. The ears, nose, tail, and back legs have cereal treats to give them structure. The inside of the ears are airbrushed.
A friend of my brother’s was looking for an interesting cake to give to his wife for Mother’s Day. Apparently, they have a beloved white dog who is getting on in years and he wanted to give her a replica of that dog as a Mother’s Day cake. He chose a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream and sent me pictures of the dog.
I carved the body from two 8″ round cakes and the head from two 6″ rounds. Piping the fur took a very long time. In the end, the cake looks a lot like the dog. The dog came with him to pick up the cake and it was a little creepy.
