Wonder Woman Cake

I really enjoy cake decorating. I have been taking Wilton courses at an arts and crafts store and recently finished my last class. I occasionally make cakes for my family, which is very rewarding. This Wonder Woman cake was my “final” cake for my Wilton class. We were given the freedom to design any kind of cake we wanted. I chose this theme because I like the bright, contrasting colors of Wonder Woman and thought they would look great on a cake. Plus, I wanted to be Wonder Woman growing up!
Wonder Woman’s tiara and logo are on top of the cake. Her bracelets are to the right of the cake. Everything is edible except for the picture of Wonder Woman on the left. The cake is covered in fondant tinted royal blue. I smoothed the cake surface out with a fondant smoother. White fondant was used to cover the cake board. I gently pressed a star cookie cutter all over the white fondant to give it the star pattern. I also used the star cookie cutter to make the white fondant stars covering the cake and the red fondant stars on
the tiara and bracelets. Fondant was rolled out 1/8 of an inch thick to make all the stars.
I printed out two of the same Wonder Woman logos from the Internet. I cut around the edge of one entire paper logo with scissors and placed it on top of red fondant I had rolled out. An Exacto knife was used to
trace around the logo to cut it out. Next, I cut the second paper logo with scissors; however, this time I only cut out the yellow parts that form the “W.” I placed them on top of yellow rolled out fondant and traced each one with an Exacto knife to cut them out. I used water and a food safe paintbrush to attach the yellow fondant pieces to the red fondant piece. All fondant was rolled out 1/8 of an inch thick for the logo.
The tiara on top of the cake and the bracelets to the right of the cake were made out of gumpaste, which I tinted yellow. I drew a tiara and a bracelet pattern on paper and cut them out. Next, I rolled the gum paste
out 1/8 of an inch thick and placed the paper patterns on top. An Exacto knife was used to trace the patterns and cut them out. After cutting out the patterns, I let them sit flat for a few minutes to harden a bit. Then I molded them to resemble the tiara and bracelets.
For the ball border, I rolled red fondant out 1/8 of an inch thick. I cut out many circle shapes with a medium sized circle cookie cutter. Then, I cut every circle in half with a knife and rolled each half into a ball. It helps to put the circles in a sealed zip lock bag until you are ready to roll them into a ball because the fondant can dry out fast.
The tiara, white and red stars, and the red ball border were all attached to the cake using water and a food safe paintbrush. Thanks for looking at my cake!

I just found this cake on google and I absolutley love it!
I will be using this for inspiration for my mum’s upcoming milestone birthday – she too wanted to be Wonder Woman growing up, and she’s our Wonder Woman, so it suits
My 4 year old’s birthday is in two days, and she is NUTS about Wonder Woman, and if I had a chance, I would buy this cake in a heartbeat for almost any price… this is maybe the most awesome cake I have EVER SEEN
Thank you so much Limonade and Amber for your kind comments about my cake! You made my day! I hope the birthdays you both mentioned were great.
